# Overview

> How Onstacks on/off-ramps move money between local currencies and stablecoins worldwide, what settles where, and what you integrate.

A ramp moves value between local fiat and stablecoins. Onstacks sits between your product and the licensed providers in each market, with local currencies, local payment rails, and local identity checks behind one integration, so you integrate once and get routing, compliance handling, and status tracking everywhere Onstacks operates.

## What settles where

* **Fiat leg.** A licensed provider collects or pays out local currency on local rails. Onstacks selects the provider per currency, payment method and amount; see [How a payment settles](/ramps/how-it-works#how-a-payment-settles).
* **Stablecoin leg.** Tokens move on whichever supported network the transaction needs; Onstacks orchestrates the network internally, so you name the asset and destination and never route chains yourself. On the Ramp Checkout, Onstacks holds the user's ramp wallet. On the API, you tell Onstacks which wallet funds or receives the transaction.
* **Onstacks.** Quotes, routing, order state, webhooks, and the dashboard. Onstacks never holds fiat.
