# Environments

> Sandbox and live, and how every call selects one.

Every environment-scoped route accepts `environment` as a query parameter.

```

The default is `sandbox`. Always pass `environment=live` explicitly in production code.

## Isolation

Sandbox and live are separate partitions of the same workspace. Wallets, transfers, quotes, orders, webhooks, and API keys created in one are invisible to the other. A sandbox id passed to a live call returns `404`.

## What sandbox uses

| Area | Sandbox |
| - | - |
| Networks | Testnets, for example `ethereum_sepolia` |
| Providers | Provider sandboxes. Payouts settle to test accounts and never reach a real bank. |
| Identity | Fixed test identities |
| Rates | Provider sandbox pricing where available, otherwise mock rates |

## Access
